Emulsion Transfers

Emulsion transfers are easy to do and involve using a photograph you have already taken and have processed. It involves putting acrylic and emulsion paint onto the photograph and then onto a piece of paper, to give the photograph an edgy look and appear quite old.

It looks really good if it works out well and anybody can do it. I had a go at it myself and this is what my final piece looked like. Personally, for a first try I think it turned out quite well, although some parts rubbed off a bit too much but because I know this now, if I try it again I know how to try and perfect it.

I quite enjoyed doing this activity and I think it's fun and creative and I'm rather excited to try it out on one of my own photographs. With emulsion transfers, the aim is to make the photograph look different and it gives it the kind of look like a Polaroid photograph.
These two photographs are both examples of emulsion transfers and I really like them, they are better than mine but there's no reason why I couldn't produce one as good as these. I don't know how to explain the way they look but there's something about them that's different and slightly out of the ordinary which I really appreciate.
